Putting up holiday decor is one of the most fun things about this time of year, but let's be real. It's also one of the most stressful things, too. So is it possible to make your home look holiday-ready without wanting to tear your heart out? Yes! These hacks will make decorating a breeze.
1. Use fir branches, pine cones, and acorns from your own yard to make centerpieces! Arrange them prettily in a glass vase and put them on the table or the mantel.
2. Save on cute holiday decor by purchasing inexpensive frames and filling them with pretty Christmas cards. You can even cut out a gift bag with a pretty design or a piece of especially pretty wrapping paper to put in the frame.
3. Add a felt or silk bow and ribbon to a solid red or green throw pillow to make it look like a gift just waiting to be unwrapped.
4. Put the topper on the tree before you get the whole thing up and in position. That way, you're not reaching on your tiptoes or on a stepstool to get it on. (This doesn't count if you have a kiddo who loves to be lifted up to place it!)
5. If the flimsy hooks on your favorite ornaments aren't cutting it, replace them with paper clips! They're sturdier and you can buy hundreds of them on the cheap.
6. Add reflective ornaments to your tree to make the lights even brighter! It'll make it seem like you have even more light than you really do.
7.Hang the Christmas cards you receive from a fir garland. They'll become part of the decor!
8. Or create a 2-D Christmas tree on the wall with your cards! Arrange your cards into the shape of a tree and tape them to the wall securely -- the effect will be fun and festive.
9. Take advantage of zip ties to hold garland to staircases or porch railings. They won't scratch or stick, they hold firm, and they can easily be cut away.
10. Be kind to yourself next year by meticulously organizing and labeling your boxes when you take your decor down again after the holidays are over. No more wondering what's where or dealing with snarled string lights!
