Pets make our lives so much better. Our cats and dogs aren't just pets -- they're our best friends, and in many cases, are much better company than other people. But life as a pet owner can sometimes be a little frustrating or expensive. Don't worry! We've got the life hacks you need to make things a little bit easier.
1. Your cat can brush her own fur -- just attach a bristle brush to a table leg or corner where she can reach. She'll love rubbing up against it and it'll come in handy when you're at work and she wants to be petted!
2. Don't want to keep using a lint roller to pull up pet hair from your couch or chair? All you need is a rubber glove -- put it on and run your hand along the furry furniture, and you'll be able to pull up plenty of it.
3. Does your cat or dog hate getting in the carrier? It's probably because they associate it with going to the vet. Leave the carrier out in your living room or bedroom so your pet can go in and you as they please. They won't be so worried when you actually need them to get in.
4. Instead of buying tons on new toys for your pet, take half of their toys and put them into storage. Then, in a few weeks, take those toys back out and put the current rotation away. Your pets will think they've gotten a bunch of cool new stuff, and they'll never get bored.
5. Older pets or those with sensitive teeth may have a bit of a hard time chewing on hard kibble. Soften it up with a bit of warm water so they can gobble it down with ease!
6. Some pets, on the other hand, eat way too easily. Need your cat or dog to slow down? Put a golf ball in their food bowls, and they'll have to push it around to get to all the food, forcing them to eat more slowly. You can also put their kibble inside of a toy so they'll be forced to work for their dinner.
7. You may be working from home or working on homework, but Kitty wants to sit on your computer's keyboard. What can you do? Set out a box on your desk and she'll sit in that instead, keeping an eye on you and your work.
8. Want to give your dog a frozen treat that's good for him, too? Freeze chicken broth in ice cube trays and give your icy creation to Fido when you're hanging out outside.
9. Does your pet think that playtime starts at bedtime? Be sure to play with your pets in the evening to wear them out! Make time to play laser pointer chase with your cat or fetch with your pup.
10. Have a sock that's missing a partner? Instead of throwing it away, put an empty plastic bottle inside and tie or sew it shut. Boom! A freecyled chew toy for your dog.
