Everyone always talks about spring cleaning, and for good reason. When winter melts away and you've been stuck inside for months, it feels amazing to throw open the windows and shake off the dust and dreariness of the darker months. But we'd argue that fall cleaning feels just as good! After all, isn't it great to make the space you're going to be hibernating in feel its best?
One of the first ways you can get started is by swapping out your warm and cool weather clothes, blankets, sheets, and accessories. Find a nice spot to put your bathing suits and beach towels, and toss all of your sweaters and cozy blankets in the wash so they feel extra fresh.
Next, it's time to start purging. You've got junk drawers, cabinets, closets and spots under the sofa that are just begging to be cleaned out. Be ruthless! If you don't need it, don't use it, and forgot you even had it, it's time to get rid of it.
Planning to freeze lots of hearty meals for the cold months? It's probably a good time to clean out the freezer, and maybe the fridge too, while you're at it. Get rid of anything that's past its prime, then give the interior a nice scrub.
Fall is also a great time to take care of small, forgettable tasks that matter more than you realize. Those are tasks like replacing your smoke detector batteries, creating drawers for specific items like craft supplies or first aid equipment, replacing light bulbs, and deep cleaning pet beds or crates.
Don't forget the outdoor space! Summer items like grills, sprinklers, pool noodles and boogie boards can go into storage, and power wash the driveway if needed. If you have a yard with trees, raking the leaves can go on this list, too.
Voila! Now you can welcome fall into your nice, clean, organized, stress-free space. Doesn't that feel nice?
